NPT forged threaded half coupling in Stainless Steel 304/316, Duplex Steel and Super Duplex Steel — one female NPT end and one plain weld face, manufactured to ASME B16.11 in Class 3000# and 6000#.
The Forged Threaded Half Coupling is a single-outlet fitting used to create a threaded branch connection on a pipe, vessel wall, tank shell or header. One end features a precision-cut female NPT thread that accepts a threaded pipe, nipple or instrument fitting. The opposite end is a plain face machined flat and perpendicular to the thread axis, designed for direct butt-welding onto the run pipe or vessel wall.
Unlike a full coupling, the half coupling has only one threaded end, making it the standard fitting for adding a threaded instrument tapping, drain, vent or gauge connection onto piping systems and pressure vessels without introducing a second mechanical joint. It is also widely specified as a weld-on threaded boss wherever a screwed instrument or utility connection is required on a nozzle.
Cunimet Alloy International manufactures threaded half couplings through closed-die forging in one piece, ensuring an integral, full-strength body at the critical thread-to-face junction with no seams or casting porosity. Threads are cut on CNC turning centres to ASME B1.20.1 (NPT) tolerances and 100% go/no-go gauge inspected before dispatch.
“L” = Overall length from NPT thread face to plain weld face. Thread size and form are per ASME B1.20.1 for the respective NPS. All dimensions in millimetres.

Dimensions are nominal per ASME B16.11 latest edition. BSP threads to BS EN 10226 available on request. All dimensions in millimetres.
Standard high-pressure class, equivalent to Schedule 160. The most widely specified class for threaded branch and instrument connections in oil & gas, chemical and power applications. Suitable for the majority of industrial weld-on threaded boss requirements.
Heaviest wall, equivalent to Double Extra Heavy (XXH). Specified for high-pressure instrument tappings, gauge connections and vessel nozzles where project specifications require maximum wall thickness in the threaded end.
Widely used for chemical, water treatment, pharmaceutical and food industry branch and instrument connections. SS 316 preferred where resistance to chloride pitting and marine atmosphere corrosion is required.
High-strength duplex alloy for offshore platform nozzles, desalination plant tappings and pressure vessel branch connections where chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking must be prevented.
Premium super duplex with PREN greater than 40 for seawater service nozzles, subsea vessel connections and highly corrosive chemical plant branch points requiring the highest corrosion resistance.

Creating threaded branch connections on process pipe runs for pressure gauges, temperature wells, level switches and sample points where a permanent welded base with a removable threaded instrument is required.
Weld-on threaded bosses on pressure vessels, storage tanks and reactor shells providing screwed connections for drains, vents, relief valves and utility tappings without a second flanged joint.
Adding threaded branch outlets on distribution headers and manifolds in utility, steam and compressed air systems where compact, economical branch connections are preferred over full branch outlet fittings.
Fabricated skid piping and package units where threaded half couplings provide quick-access screwed connections for future instrumentation or maintenance points welded directly onto the process line.
