Integrally reinforced branch outlet for brazed branch connections in Stainless Steel 304/316, Duplex Steel and Super Duplex Steel — contoured base fillet-welded to run pipe, branch bore prepared for silver-brazed joint to branch pipe, manufactured to MSS SP-97.
The Brazolet is a forged integrally reinforced branch outlet fitting in which the branch outlet bore is designed for a brazed joint connection to the branch pipe rather than a fillet weld or threaded engagement. The base of the fitting is contoured to the run pipe outer diameter in the same manner as a Weldolet, and is fillet-welded to the run pipe at a drilled branch opening, providing the full integral reinforcement required at the branch penetration. The branch outlet bore at the top of the fitting, however, has a close-clearance socket designed to accept the branch pipe end for a silver-brazed or high-temperature brazed lap joint.
The brazed joint at the branch outlet provides a smooth internal bore transition with no weld bead or thread form projecting into the flow path. This makes the Brazolet the fitting of choice in high-purity process piping, pharmaceutical manufacturing, semiconductor fab utilities and food-grade distribution systems where crevices, weld beads and thread roots are unacceptable in the flow stream because they trap product, harbour micro-organisms or create particle generation sites.
Cunimet Alloy International manufactures Brazolets from a single forged blank in Stainless Steel 304/316, Duplex Steel and Super Duplex Steel. The branch outlet socket bore is machined to a precision close-clearance fit to the branch pipe OD, leaving the correct braze gap for silver alloy or high-temperature brazing filler metal per AWS A5.8. All bore surfaces are finished to the specified surface roughness to ensure full capillary braze penetration.
The contoured base of the Brazolet is fillet-welded to the run pipe OD surface at the drilled branch opening using the same full-penetration weld procedure as a Weldolet. This weld provides all structural reinforcement at the branch penetration in the run pipe wall per MSS SP-97 and ASME B31.3.
The branch outlet bore of the Brazolet is machined to a close-clearance fit around the branch pipe OD, typically 0.05 to 0.15 mm diametral clearance. This gap is the correct capillary gap for silver alloy (AWS A5.8 BAg series) or high-temperature braze filler metal to be drawn in by capillary action during brazing and form a full-penetration fillet around the circumference.
Once the braze filler solidifies, the joint interior presents a smooth, crevice-free bore transition from the Brazolet body into the branch pipe. There is no weld bead, thread root or step at the joint bore surface, meeting the internal surface quality requirements of high-purity, pharmaceutical and food-grade piping codes including ASME BPE.
Socket bore “D” is the internal diameter of the branch outlet socket into which the branch pipe end is inserted for brazing. Depth “Z” is the socket engagement depth. Braze gap is maintained at 0.05–0.15 mm diametral clearance on the branch pipe OD. All dimensions in millimetres.

Socket bore dimensions provide the nominal capillary gap for silver alloy (BAg) and nickel alloy (BNi) braze filler metals per AWS A5.8. Specify run pipe NPS and schedule when ordering. Surface finish Ra ≤ 1.6 μm on socket bore as standard. All dimensions in millimetres.
Austenitic stainless steel Brazolets for high-purity, pharmaceutical, food-grade and semiconductor utility branch connections where the smooth brazed bore eliminates the crevices and weld bead features that would be present in a welded or threaded branch outlet. SS 316L preferred for pharmaceutical and bioprocessing applications requiring orbital weld or braze joint quality documentation.
Duplex alloy Brazolets for smooth-bore branch connections on offshore chemical injection, high-purity chemical distribution and process piping where the corrosion resistance of the Duplex base material must be maintained at the branch junction without the sensitisation risk of a conventional weld at the branch outlet bore.
Super duplex Brazolets with PREN greater than 40 for smooth-bore branch connections on seawater service, offshore and subsea high-purity chemical injection piping where both maximum corrosion resistance and a crevice-free internal bore at the branch junction are required by the system design specification.

Branch connections on WFI, purified water and process fluid distribution headers in pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities where ASME BPE surface finish requirements and crevice-free internal geometry at every branch junction must be maintained to prevent biofilm formation and product contamination.
Ultra-high-purity process gas and chemical distribution branch connections in semiconductor fabrication facilities where particle generation at crevices, weld beads and thread roots in the flow stream would cause wafer defects, and the smooth brazed bore of the Brazolet eliminates these contamination sources.
Product contact branch connections on food and beverage processing pipelines where internal crevices trap product residue and resist cleaning-in-place (CIP) and sterilisation-in-place (SIP) procedures, and the smooth internal bore of the brazed Brazolet joint meets hygienic design requirements.
High-purity chemical injection and sampling branch connections on offshore and onshore process piping in Stainless Steel or Duplex Steel where a smooth bore at the injection point prevents chemical hang-up and ensures complete flushing between injection cycles without particle entrainment from weld bead surfaces.
